Say this prayer for your Pastor and church leaders.

For it is written that “He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ— from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love.” (Ephesians 4:11-16, NKJV).

Father,

Thank you for appointing [Pastor Name] to lead [Church Name].
As it is written in your word, You gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, to build up the body of Christ, until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of God’s Son, growing into maturity with a stature measured by Christ’s fullness.

[Pastor Name] lives a life worthy of the calling to which he has been called, exhibiting godly character, moral courage, personal integrity, and maturity. He pursues righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, and gentleness. He fights the good fight of faith and takes hold of the eternal life to which he was called, and for which we made the good confession of faith in the presence of many witnesses.

[Pastor Name] speaks the truth in love. He holds firmly to the trustworthy word of God as it was taught to him, so that he will be able both to give accurate instruction in sound [reliable, error-free] doctrine and to refute those who contradict it by explaining their error. He destroys sophisticated arguments and every exalted and proud thing that sets itself up against the true knowledge of God, and takes every thought and purpose captive to the obedience of Christ, being ready to punish every act of disobedience, when our own obedience as a church is complete.

As a church leader, [Pastor Name] is without fault. He has only one wife, is sober, self-controlled, and orderly; he is hospitable to believers as well as to strangers. He is able to teach; he is not a drunkard or a violent man, but he is gentle and peaceful. He is financially ethical; he is able to manage his own family well and his children obey him with all respect. He is mature in the faith, so that he will not swell up with pride and be condemned, as the Devil was. [Pastor Name] has a good reputation and is respected by the people outside the church, so that he will not be disgraced and fall into the Devil's trap.

[Pastor Name] is an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, and in purity. He devotes himself to public reading of Scripture, to preaching and to teaching the sound doctrine of God’s word. He learns from instruction and correction and for others his example is a path toward wisdom and blessing. He corrects those who err in doctrine or behavior, warns those who sin, exhorts and encourages those who are growing toward spiritual maturity, with inexhaustible patience and faithful teaching.

[Pastor Name] fulfills the duties of his ministry and sets a pattern of integrity for his congregation. He is sensible and above reproach—whether in public or in private. He prospers in all things and is in health, just as his soul prospers.
